Experience

Hi, There! I’m Julie, and I love theatre.

I have decades of experience on stage, behind the scenes, and at the helm of productions. Like many theatre practitioners, I’ve dabbled in a bit of this and that over the years (props, producing, costuming – you name it), but my primary loves are acting, choreographing, and directing. In recent years, I’ve also fallen in love with coaching and mentoring young performers.

Due to the pandemic, and the devastating toll it has taken on the entire international theatre community, I started the Backyard Readers Theatre Lab in my own little corner of the world. Local theatre-lovers in Fresno get together to read plays, share snacks, take part in talkbacks, and visit each other in person, all safely and socially distanced, in backyards around town. We started with about a dozen of my closest friends and now have a Facebook group of over 300 members. By the close of 2020 we will have read 38 with 26 more titles coming through spring of 2021 (make of that what you will) in 4 backyards, with over 125 actors from our community, and in doing so, have found a way to continue learning, growing, and connecting in these crazy and uncertain times.

My love of the performing arts doesn’t stop at theatre, though. I also have experience in television, radio, and digital mediums, and I absolutely use the skills I’ve honed as an artist in my day job as the owner of my own boutique marketing firm. My love for theatre is at the root of everything I do. Please peruse this portfolio website to see what I’ve worked on in the past and, hopefully, we can work together on something in the future.

In Collaboration,

Julie
